How to Draw Realistic Lips tutorial step by step
Lips are very beautiful, sensitive and emotional.
Hi there. My name is Rezeda, and today we are learning how to draw beautiful and realistic lips.
I posted a video about it on my YT channel.
Before we start to learn the academic general approach to drawing lips, let’s study in a more simple way. It is more geometrical and, of course, triangular, as I like.
And includes a little bit of anatomy.
First, we draw a triangle. And then we cut off the side corners to make a pentagon. And after that, we cut off the top corner. Now we have 6 points.
Does it remind us how earlier we draw the eyes, doesn’t it? Then we draw a mouth line. And it is not a straight line at all.
Actually, it is an arc. These parts bend to other planes.
The upper lip is usually smaller than the bottom one.
Then we add a lip tubercle. And we have to remember that a tubercle usually slightly covers the buttom lip.
From points 3 and 4, we draw a philtrum, which becomes narrower at the top and ends with a nose.
There is a deepening under the bottom lip. We have depressor labour inferioris in this area.
Lips are symmetrical. So, there is an identical structure for the left and right parts of the lips.
The plane that starts from points 5 and to 2 is upper lip cutaneous. There is orbicularis muscle around the lips. So, it is a simple but geometrical academic approach with little part of anatomy.
